Migrations is the participation of artist Marguerite Humeau in the Venice Art Biennale The Milk of Dreams. It showcases large-scale supernatural, biomorphic sculptures that could have been lifted from a work of science fiction, occupying a world in which hypermodern technology and medical equipment have displaced human life. Borrowing from research on ecstatic rituals, trances, animal morphology and climate change, she stages sinuous marine sculptures as if caught in a moment of religious rapture. Commissioned by Humeau, the project consisted in leading the production and fabrication of the pieces from design throughout to install, as well as the design of the plinth - in accordance to the general exhibition layout designed by the italian studio Formafantasma. The project consisted of extensive R&D and material research in order to incorporate elements like salt, plastic ocean waste, and algae as components of the sculptures.
