MODULAR TABLE

The Modular Table consists of a set of 8 units of individual modules, or single squared tables designed to be assembled into a 2,4 x 2,4 x platform. Commissioned by artist Michael Armitage with the objective of allowing him to work with freedom and space on large canvases, the design aims to create a large surface with a considerable altitude that could replace the traditional stepped stair and be easily de-assembled, allowing flexibility in function and space usage. Made of laser-cut plywood pieces in collaboration with London based design practice Boano Prismontas, the platform is designed to be assembled without the use of nails and connectors. The project considers a strict economy of material as all the pieces for each module can fit in a standard plywood sheet.
